Runes

Runes

More than 3,000 years ago, the people of Northern Europe used a magical, mysterious alphabet called the runes. Each letter of the alphabet had both a literal meaning and a closely related symbolic significance.

For centuries, runes were carved into stone, etched on metal, and burned into wood. Runes were used in poetry, inscriptions, and invocations to the Norse pantheon of gods. Fortune-telling bards wandered the countryside with their runes, which they consulted to divine the past, present, and future.

Runes had the power to charm, to curse, and to spell — in both senses of the word. Today, runes still have the power to counsel, clarify, and communicate.

Choose runes if …

  • You’re a symbolic thinker.
  • You’re quick on your feet, and you like direct answers to your immediate questions.
  • You want to hear an objective opinion, even if it seems blunt or surprisingly frank.
